A private operational tool. Not a consumer product.
Multiapp Server Backup is an internal operational tool that
protects the production applications hosted on a single server,
multiapp-prod-01. It exists so that those applications can be
recovered if that server is lost.
What it does
Takes a periodic recovery snapshot of the server's application data and
configuration.
Encrypts every backup before it leaves the server.
Encryption happens locally; the storage destination receives ciphertext
only.
Uploads that encrypted backup to a Google Drive account belonging to the
server's operator, used purely as off-site storage.
Restores from those backups during recovery, and during the routine
restore verification that proves the backups actually work.
How it uses Google Drive
Google Drive is used only as a storage destination for
encrypted backup files.
Access is limited to the files this tool itself creates. It uses the
drive.file scope, which grants access only to files created
by this application.
It does not browse, read, index or analyse any other
files in the Google Drive account.
Because backups are encrypted before upload, the stored contents are not
readable by the storage provider.
What it is not
It is not a consumer-facing Google Drive integration and
is not offered to the public.
It has no user accounts, no sign-up and no public interface. These pages
exist solely to describe the tool.
It is operated by, and used only by, the owner of the server it protects.
